Moving past the drops in search of what creates the surface:
Warning: As with most Web sites, some pages are more pertinent to what you are looking for than others. This may be one or the other. Don't be afraid to try another page on my site. I find facing our fears is generally beneficial.
I was born in the early seventies. Yes my loving parents have photos of me wearing bell bottom pants. (I do enjoy being stylish at times.) At age two my parents separated and divorced, and consequently I decided to be cooperative and have my tonsils out at the same time and then hemorrhage about a day later. (We do such subtle things as children to show our emotions). I lived with my mother, our two cats and one dog, and actually did see my dad regularly on weekends at his home on the other side of town in Salt Lake City.
I grew up being raised mostly by a loving mother with occasional assistance from my grandparents and our good neighbors. We were pretty poor financially though I never really clued into it until I was a few years into my teenage years and even then didn't really worry about it as after sixteen years of age I had a job, a cool car, and some good friends despite my lack of self esteem. We went to church at the local chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. (Yes the ones nicknamed The Mormons) Which is where I have found most of my longest lasting friendships.
School
In school I was one of those "he really can do a lot better" students. Yes, homework was boring and monotonous. Once I entered college my parents wondered if I was the same person. (Less homework and grades based off of tests or essays that show we really know the info.)
I got an Associate of Science in General Studies from Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) in December of 1999. (No jokes about the artist formerly known as the artist formerly known as Prince please.) Then I started at the University of Utah in linguistics then my wife, Stacey, and I moved to Arizona for her Masters' Degree and I studied part time there and realized that even though I like languages I didn't care a lot for the really deep underlying parts of linguistics. (Yes, I didn't do well in one major class).
Some time after moving back to Salt Lake City I continued at the University of Utah again, but I switched to something I had always loved. Art. I entered the fine arts program with an emphasis in sculpture, and continued with that until we moved to New Zealand in 2006. I look forward to studying more in the future.
Family
I am an only child raised by my mother. From my father remarrying I have some ex-step siblings who are cool, plus two awesome step brothers, and one amazing step sister, whom I consider to be my brothers and sister fully. Stacey and I currently have one terrific son, Xander, who is in year 2 at one of the primary schools here in Christchurch.
Likes
I like many things. Photography, art, computers, electronics, personal development, music, nature, water, food, cars, friends, family, God and more. Perhaps I will provide pages on some of these topics later. Perhaps...
A note on the design of this site.
As I am being rather honest and open on this page you may as well know that I did not create the design for this website. Here is the text from the original template.
If you like this layout and would like to use it in any way, you are free to do so. This is an open source web design, and all I ask for is that you leave the "Design by Andreas Viklund" link in the footer of the site. If you would like to remove that line, or if you would like professional help with anything related to this layout (such as custom design, branding, scripting or programming), please contact me through OSWD.org or through my website for more information.
